Palestine

On November 29, 1947, the United Nations announced the birth of two new countries, Israel and Palestine, and of a new international city, Jerusalem.
The state of Israel was proclaimed the following year without any other condition.
The state of Palestine was not created because the Arab countries refused this sharing of the land.
Years have gone by... some Arab countries have recognized the state of Israel, others are still refusing to recognize it. And Israel has taken the opportunity to strangle to death economically the Palestinian territories, to multiply the unauthorized settlements on Palestinian land and to keep alive the dream of the Great Israel.
Palestinian asked for its recognition last year, which was rejected by the Security Council of the United nations, thanks to a veto of the USA. A shame for a country which wants to defend democracy and the human rights...
On November 27, 2012, Israel has "authorized" the payment of a few months salary to the government of Palestine by giving them back import- export taxes they are cashing in in the name of the Palestinian government... unbelievable...

On November 29, 2012, the United Nations admitted Palestine as a sovereign state, but a "non-member state"... like the Vatican... 138 countries in favor, 9 against it, and 41 abstained. The USA still insisted that this resolution did not recognize Palestine as a state... pitiful...!
The recognition of Palestine as a full member state is still to come, which will certainly require a peace treaty with Israel, I agree.
The future is now in the hands of Israel when they vote in January 2013 for their legislative Assembly and their government. The Israeli extreme right might not have accepted the confirmation of the abandon of their dream of the Great Israel... and I believe that peace between both states will require a victory of the Israelis left political parties.
Read this opinion of a Californian rabbi:

PS: Why did not the United Nations put in the same question the recgnition of Palestine AND the recognition of Israel as two states, in the same vote... that would have forced the Arab countries and Iran to take officially position, publicly, in front of their citizens...

PS: Before the vote, Canada foreign minister read a text prepared by Israel and the USA, word for word. There goes the image of Canada in the Village...

The United Nations group for the non proliferation of nuclear weapons was supposed to hold a first meeting in 2012, to review how the Middle East could be without any nuclear weapons. But the United States have just refused to start the negotiations this year, which has got the Arab countries and Iran screaming (Iran is not an Arab country...).
Even if the United States have imposed this delay to wait for the new government of Israel and the new USA Secretary of State who should be on board in January 2013, sorry... but a country must be able to function whatever the government is. And there were 12 months in 2012, as usual... This first meeting should have been held, even if only to discuss of the agenda of the next meeting... By the way, why could not this first meeting be held between the United Nations and the other countries, without the countries which are choosing not to participate?
As far as I know, the USA are not in the Middle East...?

Bien joué Mark / Well done Mark

For any country, the flag, the army and the currency are the three highest priorities for the
independence of the country.
Well... England has decided to name a Canadian at the head of the Bank of England.
What's next, a French general in charge of the British army...?
Mark Carney has led efficiently all decisions regarding the Canadian dollar over the las
t five years.
Will he make decisions now favorable to the English currency against possibly the Canadian dollar? and the Canadians thought the Chinese takeover of a major energy company was a threat...!
Mind you the British might apprehend a possible withdraw of Scotland from the United Kingdom, and Scotland has a certain weight in the English affairs, starting with the oil fields and the wind farms in their rough seas... as much as Scotsmen had a big impact in the birth of Canada, building its railroad, many universities and more...
Should Mark Carney already be stripped from his Canadian citizenship for treason?
Wait... unless... of course... I guessed it... he is going to prepare the switch from the British pound and the Scottish pound to the Canadian dollar for England and Scotland... you read it here first...!
Well done Mark...

PS: are you going to asked to be paid in English pounds or in Canadian dollars...?

* Chine Elections / China Elections

China has a new President, and a new Prime Minister.
The President is issued from the long established Chinese families, with ancestors which were sent back to the farm work by Mao.
The Prime Minister is issued from Chinese families which ancestors went on Mao’s side during his revolution.
And the composition of the executive committee of 8 members has been discussed and negotiated at length between both tendencies. Whether you like it or not, Mao is still present, no matter what the media say.
So China is now set to tackle the present and the future, ie
- fight corruption (welcome to the club…)
- diminish its energy dependence (welcome to the club…)
- keep peace on its borders (China has never exported a war away from its borders… hello USA…!)
- improve the conditions of life of its citizens (welcome to the club…) today and tomorrow, in particular by having already bet on research and innovation, and by having relocated some businesses more in the middle of China to avoid having workers separated from their families,
- improve the health services (welcome to the club…) as today the health services are not free in China, contrary to what most people think,
- give more freedom of thought and expression to its citizens,
- and reform its institutions, for example by making the judicial system independent from the legislative and executive powers, and by using the CPCC the way it was intended to be used when it was created.

This CPCC Committee was created by Mao to give a say to the 8 political parties existing in China, and as per its statutes, it can ask for the participation of any representative citizen to study a question and prepare a law to be presented to the vote of the legislative assembly. But why was not a farmer from Interior Mongolia invited when these farmers went to the streets, or an artist opposed to the current government when he is talking too much to the media. And… as the other 7 old political parties authorised in China (other than the Communist party) are no more representative, the real issue remains the representation of the citizens. That’s the role of the political parties…!
Why not authorize more political parties? Starting with the party of the President (and of the Prime minister), plus another party for Uncle Wen, who was close to the citizens’ aspirations. And with the cash he has now apparently put in his coffers, he could certainly easily create a political party and campaign… come on, why not?

China must accept that the debate between ideas happens among the citizens, and in the media, maybe with a minimum of control at the beginning… Keeping the debate on political orientations behind a heavy red curtain hiding the members vying for a seat on the Executive Committee cannot satisfy the media nor the citizens.

Sondage canadien / Canadian poll

Faites vos jeux...

The results of a national poll made early November with 2,200 Canadians have just been made public.
- 94% like in priority the image of the universal health services made available for all. Wait, the Americans are going to call us socialists again...!
- 80% like the Canadian flag and its national hymn. I still propose to adopt the bilingual version (French - English_) as the official version, and to add to the flag a bit of blue as proposed by the Prime Minister of Canada when the question of a Canadian flag was first debated.
- 75% like the image of Canada in the Village, its federal system and its army. Even if the image of a pacific and ecologic Canada of the 1960's has given way to a more military image under the actual Conservative government in power for 7 years now, and to some ecological by-passes for the bituminous sands of Alberta.
- 68% like the multiculturalism of the country. Canada is a country of immigrants, and proud to be one.
- 60% consider important the official bilinguism of the country. If the present government wanted to put priority on bilinguism for the Canadian administration and all the Canadians, then maybe Canadians would realise that bilinguism is a strength for his young population. If nothing else, because it will open your mind to other cultures and will help you not to behave as Texan cowboy when abroad...
- 60% consider important the Charter of rights and obligations. Which countains the clause of helping your fellow citizens through volunteer actions. This Charter is also not very well known from all Canadians and should be brought back to their attention more often, like on the back of their tax declaration...
- 48% consider that hockey is a source of pride for Canada. That's when I started to doubt that only Canadians were polled, or if people from Mexico or Cuba had been polled by mistake...!
- And finally only 39% thought that the Queen of Canada was an important symbol. You can understand the Canadians who were polled, after all the Queen of Canada is the only head of state in the Village who spends less than 5% of her time in her country...!

Which country from Scotland and Canada, will first get rid of the future King Charles? Place your bets..

Changements / Changes

Things are changing in the Village
Brazilian businesses and the Brazil government are investing a lot into Portugal.
Spain has suggested to the businesses and states of Latin America to invest in Spain, to try putting some cash in the coffers
After the search for tourists at the end of the last century, it is time for the revenge of the colonies
But let me reassure you, some things don’t change in the Village…
- European countries keep accepting that the fiscal rules can be different between their countries, which allows some countries like Holland, Austria, Luxembourg or Ireland to make it possible for some international businesses to pay zero taxes in countries where they make billions of dollars… like Starbuck or Google in England or France…
- Nobody dares to talk about closing the financial casinos in the Village where more cash is bet than it is invested in the businesses on the stock market to allow them to invest…
- Israel and the Palestinians have signed a cease fire, and like in 2006, 2009, and presumably in 2015 (or before) both parties claimed victory. And as usual, the civilians and fighters who were killed on both sides were not able to celebrate with their respective side…

Anglicans

The Anglican clergy has just rejected the proposal that bwomen could be named bishops.
- Does the equality of rights between men and women and the equal opportunity for work to women apply to all citizens in England, France, Canada and the western world? businesses, public world or religions alike?
If not, as a first measure, all financial help from the government to any religion should be abandonned immediately, as citizens' money cannot be directed to organisations which do not respect all laws of the country...
- In the name of equal rights and opportunity in the Village, I guess the position of immam, rabbi, priest or any religious leader should be officially open to women in all countries in the Village? including in Saudi Arabia, Iran, Russia, Israel and the Vatican State...
Mind you, of all countries, I would have expected England and its Anglican religion to be the last one to bar women from being bishops, as the head of the Anglican Church is officially... the Queen of England herself...

Election fraude / forgery

One of the countries in the Village is in turmoil… This country had set up an Election Committee, in charge of verifying that any election in the country would be held normally, without any tricks and forgeries. This Committee is independent of any political party. Good. But… it is paid by the government…
At the last election in May 2012, thousands of voters had received phone calls in the week before their vote, letting them know that their voting centre had changed location, and they should show up at a different place. Which they did, and finally could not cast their vote… Three days before the vote, the Committee had already warned one the political parties that they had received hundreds of complaints and that all these phone calls originated from their party, and were happening in half of the provinces throughout the country. The official lawyer of the party had immediately answered that his party did not use such methods, highway robbers methods I guess. Oh well…
Six months later… the Committee has just announced that its inquiry has now demonstrated that the thousands of call were originating from a single telephone number which happened to be the official phone number of the head office of the political party already warned: when calling this phone number, the welcoming message was confirming and thanking to have called this political party
This political party won the elections and is now governing the country with less than 40% of the votes. It also pays the members of the Election Committee of course, which might have delayed the inquiry and the report, I guess…? We can ask the question
Anyway, still no lawsuit against the government for election forgery.
By the way, why did the Election Committee validated the results of the elections before finishing their inquiry…?
The country? Canada.
And the telephone from where all the calls originated is indeed the telephone fo the head office of the Conservative party.

The prime minister Mr Harper has been multiplying recently over the last two weeks his public press conferences on the international stage, advice to Europe, warnings to China and the United States…
Come back to Earth Mr Prime Minister, to your country, to your political party. And announce a new election before the Committee pursues its action in justice, under the pressure of the more than 60% of the Canadian citizens who did not vote for you.

Jerusalem

A cease fire between Israel and the Gaza strip... it will be a dressing on a wooden legs...
We need to have both parties to admit that international laws must be respected...
!
England did not bomb Ireland every time some terrorists killed English people on their
soil... You cannot hold innocent civilians responsible for the actions of a handful or ten of
terrorists, and you must address the fundamental issues, which are simple:
The Israeli extremists keep advancing behind their mask to realise their dream of the
great Israel, and the Palestinian extremists do not want to recognize the state of Israel...

The 1947 birth certificate of the United Nations recognize two states, Israel and Palestine...
1- The State of Palestine must be recognised as a full member of the United Nations. Getting it in as a non-full member at the end of November is not sufficient, but a first step.
2- The written constitution of the states of Israel and of Palestine must refer to an objective of peace with all neighbouring countries, including specifically Palestine for one and Israel for the other.
3- The Palestinian government must condemn publicly any armed attack against the citizens of Israel, and must create a Palestinian army, only one recognized to insure safety of its borders with all neighbours, including Israel. As already proposed, a joint patrol of their common border should be done by Israel and Palestinians.
4- The Security Council of the United Nations must condemn immediately any declaration of an Arab or Iranian leader against the existence of the State of Israel, and bring the matter to the International Court of Justice of The Hague. Of course this supposes that Israel, Palestine (and the United States) recognize the International Court of Justice of The Hague...
5- The United Nations and the United States must accept the above peace plan, or... propose one of their own, in writing! Behind doors diplomacy has its limits, and cannot replace a written peace plan. It can only help to make it happen, providing this plan has been written and made public.
It is not acceptable that the United Nations and the United States keep letting the situation rot, without seeing further away than the tip of their nose, and without doing everything to insure peace in this region which could go up in flames before the end of the century.

My above plan has little chance of being implemented...?
Then I only see another solution, which I now prefer by the way...
Cancel the 1947 birth certificate, and create a single state with four or five provinces for Israel and Palestine together, give reinforced powers to each province and put in the Constitution that the positions of President and Vice-president will be held simultaneously by both entities.
And Jerusalem as the capital of course...
