Otages - Hostages

A last week which Israel will no doubt rather forget quickly...
First the religious ultra-conservative have asked that the Temple of Jerusalem be rebuilt, which would mean destroying the mosque covering the rock from where Mahomet went up to the sky...
Then, a guard at the Sacred Wall emptied his revolver at close range on a Jew who had come to pray at the Wall, but who apparently said the sacred words of the Muslims, ie "God is great" in Arab (Allah akbar...). Apparently he was afraid it might be a terrorist attack... Only a lasting peace with a Palestinian State can win over the fear among the Israeli citizens.
And finally the United Nations have confirmed that the Israeli army and authorities were torturing Palestinian children, at minimum were submitting them to actions not accepted under the rights and protection of the children in the Village. If a child is used as a human shield in front of a mob refusing to obey orders of the army, I can understand (but not accept) that he might get hurt or killed, even if the army can aim better than that and if it is not acceptable from both sides.
But keeping children's heads in a bag for hours or refusing to let them go to the toilets or other verbal or physical threats to try getting some information... is simply not acceptable... for the whole Village.

The government of Israel must listen to the voice of his President Shimon Perez, of the majority of its citizens, and the voices of Bill Clinton and Mr Obama, and recognize immediately its twin brother the State of Palestine so that they can organise free representative elections with candidates who will have to recognize the State of Israel in their program.
More than 60 years is plenty enough... it is about time that the religious extremists Jews and the Palestinian extremists stop taking Peace hostage in the Middle East and in the Village...
