Canada, eh...!

From Bill Maher (New York Times - USA)
"I don’t want to live in a country where no one ever says anything that offends anyone.
That’s why we have Canada. That’s not us (the USA)".
Well Mr Bill, sorry if this will not amuse you... but that is the main reason why most
Canadians are happy to live in Canada and not in the USA! Please keep your NRA
(National Rifle Association), death penalty and other specifics, and do not come and live
in Canada, please, stay where you are... please... no offense of course, eh...

Merci les Etats Unis / Thanks to the USA

In the United States, the school buses are yellow and black, easily recognizable by all, and no car or bike can pass or cross a school bus when it is stopped, with its red lights flashing. This in order to let the children get out of the bus and eventually cross the street. The bus driver checks that all children are safe outside before turning its red lights off.
Why is this idea not copied by ALL the countries in the Village?

In the United States, some catholic schools (FAITH schools programs) allow students to pay for almost half of their tuition fees by working one day a week.
Why is this idea not copied by ALL the countries in the Village?

Thanks USA...

Vivre a crédit... / Live on credit...

The United Kingdom would like to borrow over 100 years to refill its coffers, now that the games against the Euro have stopped and that the agencies of notation are looking..., against their hearts..., at the financial crisis in the United Kingdom. Such a loan had already been undertaken in the past, following extraordinary events, like a world war. No such thing today, and all the United Kingdom would have to do to recover some financial health, would be to tax sufficiently the richest people and the financial casinos...!
I'll have three questions...
- Will the Royal Family caution the loan with their castles? In 100 years they should still be worth a lot, mainly after the financial casinos in London will finally be closed
- The United States are limiting their State loans to 30 years. Congratulations, this sounds a lot more reasonable... unless this will change shortly, after the test by the United Kingdom..?
- Can my grandson also borrow over 100 years? He is first in his class, and excellent in many sports. Well, he is 6 years old... but when he turns 106 years old, at least he... could reimburse...

Civils Afghans / Afghan civilians

A week ago, in Afghanistan, in an important US military base, a soldier left through the
main door with a loaded gun, walked a km or so, assassinated more than a dozen
innocent children and their families in their houses, and walked back to his military base,
where he surrendered.
Was there any MP (Military Police) at the gate? Did they check what the soldier was off
to?
If you are a civilian Afghan, it looks like you are in a lose - lose situation...
- inside a US military camp, you might be killed by a Taliban disguised as an Afghan soldier,
- outside a US military camp, within walking distance, you might be killed by an American soldier disguised as an American soldier, taking an afternoon walk,
- outside a US military camp, far away, you might be killed by an American drone, if you are wearing a djellabah and a beard, disguised as a Taliban... for the remote cameras embarked on the drone.
For more than 70 years now, wars have killed more innocent civilians than soldiers...

* Amina Rabat Maroc / Morocco

A young 15 years old girl has been raped.
As per the Deuteronomy (Bible - old testament) and as per the laws applying still today in
a majority of Muslim countries, her rapist can avoid jail if he gets married with his victim.
The father lodged the complaint, with his minor daughter, but the judges recommended
to him that the rapist marries his daughter...
The rapist first refused, then finally accepted to get married so he could escape jail.
During the following 6 months, he kept on beating his young wife. Her mother
recommended patience... The young lady took her own life last week.
Her name? Amina.
Let's pray that a new law with her name be issued very shortly in all the Muslim countries,
making it mandatory that a rapist be judged for his crime without any ifs or buts.
The country where it happened? Morocco, where the King is also the Supreme
Commander of all the Muslims, and could get rid of this law of another time on the spot...
Your Majesty, thanks in advance for all the young Muslim girls...

The German car manufacturers have decided to give an extraordinary bonus of around 3 months pay to ALL their employees, in view of their excellent results, in particular in China. Congratulations for not having reserved the bonus to the managers only!
As for the car manufacturers in the Village, they can reflect on the some of the German specificity, like... the number of hours worked per week, the age of retirement, the agreement (for many years now) to the conditions asked by China for the local subcontracting without asking in exchange for conditions in Tibet or better conditions in the Chinese pig farms, etc...

PS: The Swiss have just voted (around 70% against) against 6 weeks vacation per year following a referendum asked for by a Union (presently 4 weeks vacation). And they are working more than 40 hours per week... This demonstrates once more that too many Unions in the Village are not doing their job, have been short of new ideas for the last 20 years and only know how to push blindly for more and more of the same without seeing further than the tip of their nose when defending the workers. A shame... for the workers....

Mr Wang

The USA, first economy in the Village, are spending close to 5% of their GNP on the military budget. And the current President has reminded everyone that it was good practice not to ask the Government to manage things that can be managed more efficiently by the private sector. I guess I agree, except when health, education and public transport are considered as better managed by the private sector without enough drive and investment by the government...! Another country in the Village is spending less than 2% of their GNP on their military budget but spends a lot on public transport, well done! And one of their two contenders for the position of prime minister in 2013 is also of the opinion that the Government should not manage matters which can be better managed by the private sector.
His name? Mr Wang...
His political party? the reformist communists...
The country? China...
Stay posted, China is awakening...

* Journée de la Femme / Day of the Woman

Last Thursday was the Day of the Woman in the Village.
There is no Day of the Man, or Day of the Children, which shows to what extent the
status of the women in the Village is worrying and a priority for many responsible leaders.
I offer you three questions for this week end...
- The Muslim Talibans refuse that the little girls go to school: how about forbidding the Talibans to breathe until they change their minds...?
- Some religions refuse to let men and women pray together in the same room, even a man and his wife. How about God refusing to answer their prayers until they change their minds...?
- Religion and sexual matters are governed by the same area of the brain (as the Egyptians already knew it, under the pharaons). Hence the mix between both subjects in many sects... and the eternal fight in many religions in the Village to try to refuse the subjects with any sexual connotation, from far or close: they are probably hoping, by doing so, to let more room in the brain for the religious matters...
Could the brains of a person sexually obsessed and of a religious fanatic be... similar...? the subject could be worth a PHD thesis in psychology?

10% Syrie Russie Chine - Syria Russia China

Thanks to read first the blog dated March 3: 10%.
A current minister (energy) has just quit the government, left Syria and joined the
revolution...
The massacre of civilians keeps going on every day...
The Alaouite government has stopped giving gaz to the military units composed ofMuslim sunnites, religion of 75% of the Syrians, in whom the government has no
confidence.
How much more time will a religious minority representing 10% of the Syrian population
continue to massacre the other 90% of the population under the protective eye of Russia
and China?

Mr Lazhar

.

A primary / elementary school in Quebec.
Children dealing with their memories.
A substitute teacher, Mr Lazhar, newly arrived in Canada from Algeria, with his memories.
And a film producer from Quebec, with a lot of humor and tenderness...
A film to be seen absolutely... preferably in French... so you don't loose too much in the translation...

10%

In France, the Muslim population is estimated at around 10% of the French population. What would you say if these 10% were in control of ALL the top positions in the government and in the army... not acceptable of course... in France or any other country in the Village that a specific religious minority could control ALL the positions of power.
Well... in Syria, the Alawis (branch of Muslim chiites) control all the positions in the government and in the army but only represent around 10% of the population...

Syria has around 75% of Muslims sunnites, and the Constitution in the 60's was calling for the President to be a Sunnite. But following the take over by the father Al Assad in the 70s, the Constitution was changed to only mention a President of... Muslim religion. The Chiites are the majority in Iran, and well present in Irak. The Sunnites are the majority in Saudi Arabia among other countries. Sunnites and Chiites are divided to the point of thinking of each other as mortal ennemies for some, like in Irak. And the relations between Iran and Saudi Arabia are notably cool, until they get warmer I guess when both countries should have nuclear weapons...
So 10% of Alawis controlling the daily life of 75% of Syrian Chiites, for the last 40 years... that is not a sustainable solution for the long term...

Israel Iran

The president of Israel was the guest of the american TV show "The View" this week. All talks were about the threat of Iran if it obtained nuclear weapons, in view of the threats publicly issued by the Iranian President against Israel... I would have liked to hear also Mr Shimon Perez say a few words about the closing yesterday by the Israel army of the two TV broadcasting stations in Gaza. As for the Iranian threat...
 - With or without a nuclear bomb, the Iranian missiles could kill innocent civilians in Israel, and so, with or without the nuclear weapon capability, the verbal threats of the Iranian President against Israel are not acceptable and justify the sanctions against his country, until he presents public excuses.
 - Iran signed the nuclear treaty applicable to the whole Village, and for the time being is enriching uranium up to 20%, which is allowed by the nuclear authorities of the Village. On the other hand, the inspectors visiting the installations to make sure no effort is made to reach the nuclear weapon grade are not allowed to inspect to their content. Not acceptable.
The president of Israel said that Iran having the nuclear weapon would be a threat to peace in the Village. He is right. But... why is Israel refusing to sign the nuclear treaty applicable to the whole Village, and refuses any visit by inspectors of the nuclear authorities of the Village? these could be the price to pay for an unconditional support from the whole Village...
