Muguet du 1 Mai / May 1 Lily-of-the-valley

In France, tradition has it that on May 1 the parents would take their children to the nearest forest and leave them there with a few stones in their pockets… Sorry this is the Tom Thumb story!
In fact they would take their children to the forest let them pick some lily-of-the-valley so they could offer it to those they love, including their parents.

Still today in France, on May 1, everyone will offer a lily-of-the-valley to those they love, with or without a rose.
If those whom you love live too far, you will find some to offer on the Internet E-cards!

Etre ou ne pas etre / To be or not to be

The President of the USA did publish his birth certificate this past week. So now we all know he does exist...

China has been forbidding a second child to most of their citizens for the past years. So if you had another child… he does not exist, forget a census or a passport…

France Supreme Court decided in April that children born from a surrogate mother could not be registered as born… so they do not exist to the French government.

Pinch yourself with your right hand… did it hurt?
Good news, you exist… just choose carefully the country you will leave in.

* USA Constitution

The AAA credit rating of the USA could soon lose one notch.
I have no doubt that the USA will rebound, as it is a characteristic of the American people we should admire, but I am still worried when I see that the President of the USA and the Legislative Assembly (dead against his programs) are supposed to work “together” or “against each other” for another 2 years…
The American Constitution must be revised urgently with a government issued from the majority at the Legislative Assembly, and not named by the President.
You can do it Mr President, Yes you can...

Inde / India

No happiness is possible without peace. No peace is possible without justice, including social justice and stopping all corruption.
After the 40 billion dollars or Euros (who cares…) or so stolen by the former Tunisian President, by the former Egyptian President, and the soon-to-be former Libyan supreme guide, we learned last week that 40 billion were stolen from the Indian government by the largest company in India thanks to the corruption of government agents when awarding telecommunication contracts.
How many of the 1.2 billion Indians are going to demonstrate in the streets?
5% equals to 60 millions…

I do not think this number of people will fit on your TV screen…

Ciel et Terre / Earth and Sky

Today is the day of the Earth. A day to remember that we have to pass it on to our kids and grandkids and that we need to take a better care of it. Would you rather have Peace on Earth, or… the Earth in pieces…?

Today is also Good Friday for the Christians.

A man in Jerusalem has found two nails which “could” be the ones used when putting Jesus on the cross 2,000 years ago.
Mind you, since the first century, the three or four nails used have been reported in more than 3,000 different places.
And if Jesus was nailed again every time his core teachings were not followed by his followers, we could be talking about 3 billion nails or more… per year?

You probably read it two days ago in very serious newspapers: “France and England do not have enough ammunition, and weapons merchants cannot answer quickly their late call for supply”. This was apparently "delaying a quick solution in Libya and posed question regarding the capacity of France or England to solve a longer conflict"…
Well… it turns out that France and England have indeed plenty of ammunition… Maybe France’s success in Ivory Coast did not please some of the USA military and the weapons merchants?
Is it possible that the weapons merchants started the above rumor, trying to push for more contracts immediately from French and English governments?
Do you know how many military solutions exist to solve the Libyan or Syrian people revolutions? Thousands to choose from, and thousands of people waiting for various weapons contracts to both sides.
Do you know how many peaceful solutions exist ? Only one: organizing fair elections with representative candidates and international independent observers, but with no contract to be awarded...
If peace is a priority for finding happiness in the Village, why do we have a “minister of the armies” and corruption and lobbying in the governments of all the countries, but no "minister of peace"…? Why…

Certaines choses ont du mal à changer.

Christians celebrated this past Sunday the entrance of Jesus in Jerusalem. His followers at the time were Jews who simply liked the priorities he was setting among all the rabbis’ teachings. Next Thursday evening, Christians will celebrate Jesus’ last supper with his closest followers, before being arrested Thursday night while asking his followers to put down their arms because as he put it: “Forget an eye for an eye, those who live by the sword will die by the sword” or something close to it.

Jesus was then judged on the Friday morning, and hung on a cross the same Friday in the afternoon with two common thieves.
Forget 10 years on death row and appeals, forget also a phone call or the presence of a lawyer on Friday morning, or an independent and fair judicial system. Mind you, the leaders of the time, the military government of Rome and some of the religious authorities did not mind, to say the least, getting rid of an “agitator” drawing crowds with teachings they did not initiate including putting down weapons driven solutions.
This all happened in the Middle East.
I am talking about 20 centuries ago, not today… or am I?
Some things seem to never change.
