La Crimée a été russe, avant que le president Khrouchtchev ne decide de la donner a l'Ukraine, sa province natale...
Le fait que quelques dizaines d’années plus tard les habitants de la Crimée souhaitent refaire partie de la Russie n'est pas une surprise en soi, et peut meme paraître légitime.
Mais la procedure qui vient d’être mise en place par la Russie pour ramener au bercail cette province (et ses bases navales lui donnant accès a la Méditerranée) n'est pas acceptable.
- Les habitants de Crimée veulent revenir a la Russie?
L'Histoire ne leur donne pas tort, et donc un referendum sous le contrôle ou l'observation des Nations Unies doit être organise au plus tot. Le résultat ne fait aucun doute a mon avis, mais les formes auront été respectées.
- La Russie a montré qu'elle continuerait a privilegier l'usage de la force pour arriver a ses fins geo-politiques...
Il faut rouvrir immédiatement la negotiation pour l'installation des bases de fusees et drones américains dans les pays amis (Pologne, Tchécoslovaquie), fusées qui pourraient atteindre Moscou et St Petersbourg, aussi bien que l'Iran tant qu'a faire...

Bon... je suppose que les Etats Unis ne sont toujours pas en faveur de l'installation de fusées a Cuba par la Russie...
Ou par la Chine...?
Mme Obama est en tournée en Chine pour "raisons culturelles" officiellement... sauf que... elle avait choisi de ne pas assister il y a quelques mois en Californie au diner de gala donne pour la premiere visite aux Etats Unis du President de la Chine (une des plus anciennes civilisations dans le Village, et le banquier des Etats Unis par ailleurs...), et elle est en train de recommander aux universités chinoises de se battre pour la liberté d'expression sur Internet... Internet sous surveillance 24h par jour par la NSA...!
Je vais aller voir demain a Cuba si je vois des militaires russes ou chinois, on se reparle dans une semaine...

Crimea was Russian, before the President Khrushchev gave it to Ukraine, his native province... 
So the fact that a few dozens years later the people in Crimea would like to belong again to Russia is not really a surprise, and could even be considered as natural. 
But the process used by Russia to bring back this province (and its naval bases giving Russia an access to the Mediterranea) into their country is not acceptable..
- The people of Crimea want to come back to Russia?
History is not against them, and so a referendum could be organized as soon as possible, under the control or the observation of the United Nations. The result is already known in my opinion, but at least the process will be respected.
- Russia has shown that it will keep using military power to succeed in its geo-political goals...
We should reopen immediately the negotiations for the installation of bases for American rockets and drones in the friendly countries (Poland, Czechoslovakia), which could reach Moscow and St Petersburg, and might as well reach Iran...
How come no media or government has proposed these simple solutions...?

Well... I guess the USA are still not in favor of the installation of rockets in Cuba by Russia... 
Or by China...?
Mrs Obama is touring China, for cultural purposes officially... except that... a few months ago in California she had chosen not to be at the official dinner for the first visit in the USA of the new President of China (one of the oldest civilizations in the Village, as well as the banker of the USA...) , and she is recommending these days to Chinese Universities to fight for the free access to Internet... the Internet which under 24h a day watch by the NSA...!
I'll go and check in Cuba tomorrow if I see any Russian or Chinese military, see you back in a week...

St Patrick

Les immigres irlandais quitterent leur pays en direction des Etats Unis et du Canada vers le milieu des annees 1850, suite a une grande famine causee par une maladie des plants de pomme de terre si j'ai bien compris.
Les colons etablis a Boston ne les virent pas arriver d'un bon oeil... visitez Boston a pied, une merveille...
Et de nos jours, les deux plus anciens defiles de la St Patrick en Amerique du Nord sont a Boston et a Montreal.
Un ami irlandais est venu découvrir celui de Montreal ce week end avec son épouse... de la bière irlandaise, avec un shot de Jameson, un smoked meat, une poutine, allez... et on peut presque oublier la tempête de neige qui s'est abattue sur Montreal Jeudi dernier!
Bonne visite Mark O'x! et... bon voyage de retour en Irlande...

Au fait, les USA n'ont toujours pas d'Ambassadeur en Irlande depuis Décembre 2012...

The Irish immigrants left their country towards the USA and Canada around the middle of the 1850s years, following a great famine caused by sick potato plants if I understood right. The original settlers established in Boston did not se them arrive with too much kindness... go and visit Boston by foot, wonderful... And nowadays, the two oldest St Patrick parades in North America are in Boston and Montreal.
An Irish friend came to visit Montreal this week end with his spouse...
Some Irish beer, a shot of Jameson, a smoked meat at Reubens or Dunns, or even a poutine OK,,, and one can almost forget the snow storm which battled Montreal last Thursday!
Have a good visit Mark O'x... and a safe trip back to Ireland...

By the way, the USA still have no Ambassador to Ireland since December  2012...

Commonwealth

11 Mars 2014, journée du Commonwealth...
Saviez-vous que les trois pays dans le Village qui prennent le plus de médicaments anti-dépresseurs sont le Danemark suivi par l'Australie et le Canada...
Coincidence? trois royautés démocratiques...
Pour calmer leur stress, je suggère au Canadiens et aux Australiens de supprimer leur Sénat, pale copie de la Chambre des Lords britannique...
Et d'élire un President, tout en restant dans le Commonwealth, comme 32 autres anciennes colonies britanniques: l'Inde, le Pakistan, le Nigeria, le Bangladesh, etc...
Dans le cas du Canada, un President serait également mieux a meme de protéger la constitution du Canada et son bilinguisme par rapport a la reine ou au roi d'Angleterre... qui reste de toutes façons le leader officiel du Commonwealth, dans lequel la langue anglaise fait partie des valeurs fondamentales et est une priorité.

Did you know that the three countries in the Village who use the more anti-depressing drugs are the Denmark, followed by Australia and Canada... 
Coincidence? three democratic kingdoms...
To calm down their stress, I suggest to the Canadians and the Australians to get rid of their Senate, weak imitation of the British House of Lords... 
And to elect a President, while staying in the Common Wealth, like 32 other former British colonies: India, Pakistan, Nigeria, Bangladesh...

In the case of Canada, a President would also be better to protect the Constitution of Canada and its bilingualism, versus the Queen or King of England... who remains anyway the official leader of the Common Wealth, in which the English language is a fundamental value and a a priority.

Le premier ministre d'Israel vient plusieurs fois par an devant le lobby israelien a Washington pour défendre le Grand Israel sans le nommer, sous les applaudissements.
La semaine dernière il est venu parler pour... soutenir l'accord de paix avec les palestiniens qui debouchera sur une situation gagnant-gagnant pour tout le Moyen Orient, d'ici quelques semaines...
Il a fallu qu'il demande aux participants d'applaudir a la fin de son discours... tellement ses declarations les ont pris par surprise...
Pourquoi un tel revirement...?
Depuis plusieurs mois, les pays européens mettent en place un boycott economique d'Israel, surtout les entreprises établies dans les territoires palestiniens occupes, et depuis plusieurs mois, le president des USA et son secrétaire d’état ont menace que si Israel ne signe pas d'accord avec la reconnaissance de la Palestine d'ici Pâques 2014, alors... ils risquent de revoir leur participation financière au deficit d'Israel compte tenu de leur propre deficit...
Une histoire de sous... qui devrait bien finir et faire avancer la paix au Village.

The Prime Minister of Israël comes to the USA a few times a year to talk to the pro-Israel lobby and defend the Great Israel, without naming it, under the applause of the participants. Last week, he came and talked about... his support for the peace agreement with the Palestinians to come within weeks, which will deliver a win-win situation for the Middle East.. 
He had to ask the participants to applaud at the end of his speech... as his declarations took most of them by surprise...
Why such a sharp turn...?
For months now, the European countries are putting in place an economic boycott of Israel, mainly the businesses established on the Palestinian occupied territories, and for a few months, the President of the USA and the Secretary of State have threatened that, if Israel was not signing the peace treaty recognising Palestine before Easter 2014, then... they were running the risk to see the USA cut back their financial aid to Israel's budget deficit in view of the USA own budget's deficit...
Money talks... and for once, it should advance the peace process in the Village.
