Pour soigner une maladie de leurs bananiers, les francais aux Antilles et en Guadeloupe ont utilise un pesticide tres efficace entre 1972 et 1996.
Ce pesticide a ete interdit aux USA en 1976 après qu'une usine de fabrication ait eu un accident industriel, tuant 20 pesonnes. Il n'a ete interdit en France que vingt ans plus tard... une fois que les effets sur la santé ds riverains ont commencé a ne plus laisser de doute...
On sait maintenant que ce pesticide provoque des cancers et des naissances prematurees.
Mais le Chlordecone est maintenant incrusté dans les premiers 60 cms de terre aux Antilles et en Guadeloupe, et continue d'etre lavé par les pluies fortes et les crues des rivières pour venir polluer les nappes phreatiques et donc l'eau potable.
Bonne nouvelle, il va finir par disparaitre avec le temps... et ses effets de toutes facons ne durent au maximum que... 7 siècles...! pas 7 ans, 70 ans, mais bien 700 ans...
Vingt ans d'utilisation avant son interdiction, et sept siècles de désastre sanitaire...?
Comment va-t-on nettoyer les Antilles et qui va payer...?

Une majorité des OGM mis sur le marché par Monsanto n'ont pas été soumis aux tests recommandes par les médecins qui veillent sur notre santé (longueur du test en particulier - 1 an au lieu des 2 a 5 ans minimum requis...) et le lobby de Monsanto a également réussi a faire repousser par les politiciens du Village un étiquetage obligatoire sur le produit ("produit modifie OGM"). J'avoue ne pas comprendre pourquoi cet étiquetage ne peut être approuve par nos politiciens de tout bord...
A défaut, Monsanto s'engage-t-elle a exister dans 7 siècles, ou au moins dans 20 ans, quand les effets directs et indirects apparaîtront plus clairement...?

This pesticide was forbidden in the USA in 1976 after a plant producing it exploded killing 20 people. It was forbidden in France only 20 years later... after bad effects on health of nearby residents started to be obvious...
We know now that this pesticide provokes cancers and premature births.
But the Chlordecone is now deep into the first 60 cms of earth in Guadeloupe and Antilles, and keeps being washed away by strong rains and river floods and go and pollute underground water ie potable water.
Good news, it will eventually disappear with time... and its effects will disappear anyway within maximum... 7 centuries...! not 7 years, 70 years, but yes 700 years...
Twenty years of utilisation before its prohibition, and seven centuries of health disaster...?
How are the Antilles and Guadeloupe going to be cleaned up, and who is going to pay...?

A majority of OGM put on the market by Monsanto have not been submitted to the tests recommended by the doctors taking care of our health (in particular length of the test - 1 year instead of 2 to 5 years minimum required...) and the lobby of Monsanto also succeeded in having politicians in the Village rejecting a mandatory labelling of the products ('Product modified OGM"). I must admit I do not understand why this labeling is not approved by politicians from all sides...
If not, then is Monsanto ready to swear that they will exist in 7 centuries, or say at least in 20 years, when the direct and indirect effects will be more obvious...?
