Francois

Today is celebration day for those who celebrate the departure of the little father Francis.
I am not talking about Francois Hollande of course, for that the French people will have to wait...
I am talking about the little father Francis, of the village of Assisi in Italy.
He was raised by some rich parents, a father who was doing business with silk, in Lyon, and had named his son Francis in honour of France... And after a few months as a - chevalier - and a bit of time in the jail of the village next door, he heard the voice of Jesus asking him to go and rebuild his house, a voice heard in a church the roof of which was crumbling. So, with the enthusiasm that characterised all his life, he started repairing the roof of the little church.

We had to wait 8 more centuries before a Pope finally chose the first name f Francis... and for the Pope to decide that it is time to forget gold, luxurious apartments and demonstrations, and to set as priorities simplicity, humility and all those in need or looking for help, any kind of help.
Bravo, and I am convinced that it is only a question of time before Pope Francis reminds us that the voice of Jesus that Francis of Assisi heard was asking not only for a simpler Church, like it was at its beginning (with married apostles...), but also for the unity of all Christians...

Who knows, maybe Mahomet will also find his Francis of Assisi to ask for the unity of all Muslims... unless he already tried, but the person he was talking to was too busy with Twitter or Face Book...?
